The company DEKONTA, a.s. has built up a technological laboratory which is, in view of its specialisation, a completely unique facility for carrying out technological tests of industrial waste treatment. Technologies and procedures for treatment of these wastes are very expensive, both from the investment and from the operational points of view. Because of that, it is necessary to base proposals of these technologies on operationally confirmed data. Such data may be obtained just in the Technological Laboratory Slaný of the company Dekonta, a.s. It has the following main subjects of activity:
- Waste treatment tests on model scale, when industrial wastes in the order of tens to hundreds kg are treated;
- Verification of proposed technological procedures, and determination of technological parameters of operation facilities;
- Solving research and development projects.
The following units are installed in the technological laboratory:
- Unit for vacuum thermal desorption of contaminants;
- Equipment for oil sludge separation - three-phase centrifuge Flottweg Z23-3/441;
- Equipment for oil sludge pre-treatment;
- Equipment for granulation (pelletizing) of dusts and sludge - pilot-scale pelletizing pan;
- Pilot-scale hydrocyclone station.

UNIT FOR VACUUM THERMAL DESORPTION OF CONTAMINANTS
The unit enables removal of volatile organic and inorganic substances from solid matrices (for example, organic solvents, mercury), and verification of the proposed technological procedures and determination of technological parameters of full-scale operation facilities.
Parameters:
- Indirectly heated vacuum rotation chamber
- Working volume 90 l
- Max. heating temperature 400 °C
- Condensation unit of desorbed substances + filter with activated carbon
- Unit for heating of heat carrier
Use of the technology:
- Decontamination of soils contaminated by organic substances
- Treatment of solid phase of refinery wastes
EQUIPMENT FOR OIL SLUDGE SEPARATION - THREE-PHASE CENTRIFUGE
The equipment enables continuous separation of three-phase systems (mixture of two fluids showing different specific weights, and solid phase).
Parameters:
- Hydraulic power unit;
- Max. speed of bowl rotation: 5000 revolutions/min
- Capacity of the treated material: 0.5-1.5 m3/hour
- Design in accordance with ATEX 95 - zone 2 II 3G EEx T3
Use of the technology:
- Hydrocarbon separation from sludge in oil lagoons, sedimentation ponds and storage tanks
- Oil fraction recycling
EQUIPMENT FOR OIL SLUDGE PRE-TREATMENT
The equipment enables preparation of the material before its treatment using the three-phase centrifuge.
Parameters:
- Homogenizing through mixing
- Dosing of chemicals - de-emulsifying agents and flocculants
- Capacity of the treated material: 400 litres
- Electrical heating.
PILOT-SCALE PELLETIZING PAN
Granulation (pelletizing) of dusts and sludge by mixing with suitable binders in a rotation unit..
Parameters:
- Capacity of the equipment: 50 - 300 kg/hour
- Diameter of the pelletizing pan: min. 800 mm
- Accessory equipment: moistening spray, scraper
Use of the technology:
- Recycling or environmentally-friendly landfilling of foundry sand, fly ash from power plants, heating plants and incinerators
- Elimination of leachability of harmful substances
PILOT-SCALE HYDROCYCLONE STATION
The station enables treatment of suspensions produced during treatment of wastes and other materials. By means of using centrifugal force, it is able to separate a suspension into fraction containing fine particles, and fraction containing coarse-grained particles .
Parameters:
- Size of the treated phase: max. 5 mm
- Inlet pressure: 0.5-1.2 bar
- Flow through the hydrocyclone: 400-700 l/min
- Level of protection: IP 55
Use of the technology:
- Removal of coarse-grained particles (for example, sand) from the treated suspensions and sludge
- Separation of mechanical impurities from technological waters (cooling circuits)
- Separation of materials showing different specific weights (for example, sand, metal)
